Reconstruction

Man-made and natural disasters shatter lives. It is unfortunate that many countries in developing world are in a state of political turmoil and crisis (e.g., Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Yemen) or face severe and often recurring natural disasters (e.g., Haiti, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Somalia).

While the impact of these disasters is devastating in terms of human, social, and physical capital, their scale makes it impossibly difficult to cope and recover in their aftermath. Governments face extreme challenges to promote recovery, and survivors and affected communities are left hopeless from the loss of lives and livelihood. This is especially true in the case of the poor and minorities, who are disproportionately affected by disaster.

At EHAAR, we believe that building human capacity and promoting community development is as important as building material assets. We, therefore, work with top subject matter experts to offer national, regional and local governments with the following services related to recovery and reconstruction:

  • Promotion of peace, security and sustainable socio-economic development;

  • Policy and impact analysis of recovery efforts;

  • Building professional capacity of government officials and local experts;

  • Construction management consulting;

  • Restoration of cultural heritage sites and other landmarks;

  • Provision of trauma recovery counseling and related services;

  • Development of economic and social aide initiatives to support affected populations;

  • Capacity development for women and children;

  • Facilitation of resource delivery;

  • Management of stake- and stakeholder engagement exercises;

  • Talent sourcing; and,

  • Grant writing and fundraising.
