Health
Every year, millions of people around the world die due to lack of access to basic health care and appropriate knowledge. With one-third of the population malnourished, the poor in low income countries, many of which are women and children in vulnerable communities, especially suffer. Indeed, they have limited access to good nutrition, clean water, basic healthcare, and decent shelter. This results in social inequities, which are associated with systemic social disadvantage and marginalization.
At EHAAR, we believe that focusing on the health of women and children is key to improving the health of an entire community. Empowerment facilitates the realization of greater and sustainable returns. EHAAR, therefore, calls for collective social action that acknowledges that the individual is at the heart of empowerment.
EHAAR strives to improve access to healthcare services by:
Offering the means and tools for people in need to access quality healthcare;
Increasing community awareness of basic health principles, including WASH;
Building professional capacity of local healthcare providers;
Helping governments to improve healthcare services and reform healthcare policy;
Forming public–private partnerships to promote local ownership and sustainability; and,
Offering a forum for researchers, policy makers, communities, and individuals to discuss challenges and explore opportunities.
